Ok, i'll try to help you with device syntax.
I have already made it for proxmox 1.8, and I have read the code, it's almost the same. It's working fine in production since 7 months.
I'm new to git too ;) (dev side )
I just propose a branch to not break your work on trunk.
Would you like I commit directly ? or did you want i send you patchs and you make the commits ?

I work on other things right now. But if you have some spare time
feel free to work on those things (that would really help a lot). Else
you need to wait.

Well, those changes should be straight forward, and we want to
include them for 2.0, so there is no real need to branch. (I am quite new to git, so
simply correct me if I am wrong and we need to make a branch upstream).
