The VM storage is a ZVOL, a ZFS volume. You can zfs-send/zfs-recv the 
zvol to a different machine that's also using zfs.
To convert the vm disk to an image file select the disk in the proxmox 
webui, then click "move disk" and save to a different storage location 
in the selected image format
