the ",size=xx" is only informational, you can even remove it if you want.

Objet: [PVE-User] QEMU VM - disk size

Hi,

What will happen if the QCOW2 File defines a harddisk which doesnt fit to the size which is written in the size element at the configuration file

/etc/pve/nodes/prox05/qemu-server/161.conf

Contains an entry:

sata0: Storage:161/vm-161-disk-1.qcow2,format=qcow2,size=16G

What will happen if this QCOW file defines an harddrive with 17GB or 15GB ?

If I create a new VW with Proxmox with correct sizes, convert this into a template and replace the qcow2 files with really small ones ? What will happen then in case of cloning into a full clone ? Will this work ?

The clone will be broken but the cloning proc should work fine ?

Immo
