Same here. But now for stability we prefer IDE. Yes, we lose performance 
in guests. We will try again virtio in windows in the future. For now we 
use it just in linux guests.

Yes if you installer Windows with IDE at the beginning and switched to 
virtio after. If it was a fresh install over virtio directly, you have 
to use mergeide.reg (look in the wiki).
