[PVE-User] Problem: KVM guest crashes using Linux software RAID

I need to do some tests with a Linux software RAID setup, so I tried to
install a Debian "lenny" i386 machine with 3 SCSI disks on which I
created a RAID1 volume for / plus two RAID5 volumes for /home and swap
space. This setup is similar to an old server we have here; I want to
test a few things before I do them on the real thing.

The problem is that the VM crashes hard almost as soon as it touches the
RAID5 volume. If I let it do the initial sync, it crashes when it gets
to 100% sync; if I assemble it using --assume-clean (safe, as the
virtual disks are completely zeroed), it crashes on "mkswap /dev/mdX".

I guess this isn't expected. I've read that software RAID is not
supported on the *server* and I agree it would be nonsense, but I don't
see why it shouldn't work in a VM. Just in case, note that I'm not
interested in performance here, I just need to do some tests.

Probably a KVM problem, not a Proxmox VE problem. Might test with plain
KVM on my workstation if more information is needed.
