You cannot use 'pve' as volume group (already used), choose another name.

Subject: [PVE-User] Problems adding iSCSI LVM target

Hi.

Since a few months using proxmox with local disks we're trying to implement it over an iSCSI target but we have problems to make the LVM volume over the target.

These are the steps we follow:

- From the web interface: Storage -> Storage List -> Add iSCSI target
- Fill all the data needed, and proxmox see the target:
nas1

ISCSI

Yes

Yes

Yes

n/a

n/a

n/a

- From the Storage List menu, "Add LVM group" and fill the Storage Name (tried to fill it with the same name than the target or with other), select the base storage, which then shows the base volume filled up with the existing iSCSI LUN, filled de volume group name (=pve), enable, shared and content "Virtual Disks".

But when press de "save" link, proxmox shows a pop-up with this info:

Error: command '/sbin/pvs --separator : --noheadings --units k --unbuffered --nosuffix --options pv_name,pv_size,vg_name,pv_uuid /dev/disk/by-id/scsi-360a980004335444e4e6f544657306a39' failed with exit code 5

This is the syslog output:

Nov 24 11:33:07 cloud07 kernel: sd 1:0:0:0: [sda] 41943040 512-byte hardware sectors (21475 MB)
Nov 24 11:33:07 cloud07 kernel: sd 1:0:0:0: [sda] Write Protect is off

Nov 24 11:33:07 cloud07 kernel: sd 1:0:0:0: [sda] Write cache: disabled, read cache: enabled, doesn't support DPO or FUA

Thanks. Regards
