Hi Michael

PVE uses the following check to know if your storage is online:
 * for NFS, get a list of exports
showmount --exports ip_my_nfs_server
 * for ISCSI, refresh the list of targets provided by your current
active sessions
iscsiadm -m session  --rescan

if these commands fail or timeout, the storage will be marked as offline
