[PVE-User] Ceph server with Ubuntu

Then the question is if

a) you'd want to integrate those Ubuntu servers into an existing Ceph cluster (managed by Proxmox) or

b) if you just want to use a separate Ceph cluster in your Proxmox setup where that Ceph cluster is based on your Ubuntu hosts.

Case a) is probably a bad idea due to (possibly) different Ceph versions between Proxmox and Ubuntu.

Case b) should work without problem given the Ubuntu based Ceph cluster has the correct options configured. [1] and [2] should
help in that case. Unfortunatelly I cannot provide the correct options, I can only give you a dump of my PVE 4.4 based setup:

# ceph osd pool ls detail
pool 0 'rbd' replicated size 3 min_size 2 crush_ruleset 0 object_hash rjenkins pg_num 64 pgp_num 64 last_change 1 flags hashpspool
stripe_width 0
pool 1 'vms' replicated size 3 min_size 2 crush_ruleset 0 object_hash rjenkins pg_num 256 pgp_num 256 last_change 1601 flags
hashpspool stripe_width 0
