[PVE-User] Data: supplemental disk or storage direct mount?

Probably another dumb question. ;-)

For many reason (but primarly because i need to restore a particular
file and not all the disk at some time) my VMs are ''empty'', and i
mount another disk for data (and i do backup of data using agents on
the VMs, now bacula).

I'm using iSCSI now, a second cluster with ceph is bulding.

It is better to:

1) create a second 'disk' resource, mount it with the 'no backup' flag.

2) make also available the storage network to the VMs (eg, create
bridges to the storage network), and use directly from the VMs
  iSCSI/RBD access.

Both way surely works (i've tested 1 and i'm using 2 with iSCSI).

a) is surely ''simple'', no VMs configuration at all.

b) at least for iSCSI, with 2 i can achive betetr isolation, creating
volumes accessible only from the VMs and not the cluster.

Some other hint? Thanks.
