i do not have a solution, i was gathering more info to try to help with
your issue.

for a debian based operating system  I'd have replied that you should
search web for many good example of setting up /etc/network/interfaces .

are you new to debian ?  If so may I suggest you get a copy of   "The
Debian Administrator's Handbook" .
