Hi Gilberto,
Glad to hear of your success! I believe Windows 2008r2 is the first version to have backup support for virtual hardware, that is why it can restore onto different hardware. I think the technical reason it works is that the backup format is a vhd file.

Just a note: Windows Backup works as expected.
I wonder why this tools not came others Windows versions... I like this one!

Windows backup should work if you do the full system state backup. The simplest way to get it running in a VM after that is to boot from the Windows Server CD and then tell it to do a system restore from your backup. It's supposed to be smart enough to accommodate different hardware during the restore.

Tomorrow, I will try that backup system tool that came with Windows 2008... (WindowsBackup, I guess... don't remember).
We'll see if this works...
