Whatever's in the script that I linked to. 

The PVE console does show some backup sessions in progress, one of them full of errors. I have all CTs stopped now anyway, I'll disable auto-startup , reboot the box and try again.

It would help if you post what you do exactly. 
I assume you try to run vzdump? 

If so, it seems there is already another vzdump process running.
