We also updated our http://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Debian_Appliance_Builder to include the needed changes and our Debian templates works  out of the box with the console.

HowTo get them:
update you template list with:
> pveam update (this will be done also every day via a cronjob)

And download them via GUI.

The console is working by default for the updated Debian 6 and 7 templates.

If you need amd64, download them manually here to your box:
