Yes, that can be done, but it does'nt seems so "outside the box". I have 
to start the box (the VM) and do modification from the inside, and then 
also restart it.

I found a lot faster to work directly on the mounted VM filesystem and 
start it when modification are completed.

This seems far more time consuming and complex than the previous one.
