In order to track down Apache activity and to understand which HTTP-request
is causing some apache child to require an high CPU demand, you can:
- - enable the "status" module (which I see "disabled", by default, in
ProxMox 1.9), and properly configure the "status.conf" file regarding the
"Allow from" option;
- - add the option "ExtendedStatus" directive in the apache configuration
files(within the same status.conf should be ok);
- - reload/restart apache, so to load the new settings;
- - (re)generate the high-load on apache, having the browser reload the page,
relogging-in, etc.;
and then, finally, from somewhere else (with a client-IP included in the
"allow from" list above), go to:
http://<your_proxmox_url>/server-status
You should see a big table where, for _EACH_ HTTP-request that apache is
managing, you have the original URL and the resource consumpion (CPU,
Memory, execution time, etc.). Then, from the URL, you should be able to
get back to the script to further investigate.
HTH.
Bye,
DV

"Technical people tend to fall into two categories: Specialists
and Generalists. The Specialist learns more and more about a
narrower and narrower field, until he eventually, in the limit,
knows everything about nothing. The Generalist learns less and
less about a wider and wider field, until eventually he knows
nothing about everything." - William Stucke - AfrISPA
