[PVE-User] vncterm special setup with proxmox/openvz

Hi,

First off, thanks for such great software (again)! :-)

I'm running a couple of proxmox-servers and everything works superb, thing
is that I have configured rfc1918 addresses on the hardware nodes and
ip-less bridges for my guests.

So, naturally I can't reach rfc1918 addresses from "internet" so I'm
trying to use a "bounce"-machine with external connectivity that can also
reach internal networks and sort of create a vncterm <-> ssh <-> vzctl
"tunnel".

I downloaded and compiled the vncterm package from the proxmox ftp on the
"bounce"-machine. I can connect to the vnc-server created by the vncterm
command (and all the options work as expected, no problems) but I get a
blank screen / don't see any output (or input) except the "cursor/marker",
I can type and run commands on the target node but it's just blank and
slightly offseted.

I'm wondering if there is some sort of term mismatch that breaks it, I've
done some research into the code of vncterm and the java-viewer and I've
tried with tightvncviewer and the javaviewer from the vncterm-package so
far, both can connect and type/run commands but none of them shows the
input/output except the cursor/marker. Do I need something other than the
pre-reqs of vncterm on the server i wish to "bounce" off? Do I need to
pass some environment-variables etc?

This is the exact command I run on the bounce-server;
/usr/bin/vncterm -rfbport 5921 -passwdfile /tmp/vncterm.101.5921 -timout
300 -c /usr/bin/ssh -q -t -i ~/vnc/.ssh/id_rsa -lroot 10.9.3.11
"/usr/sbin/vzctl enter 101"

And if I omit the vncterm part (/usr/bin/vncterm -rfbport 5921 -passwdfile
/tmp/vncterm.101.5921 -timout 300 -c) I can connect and get the console
perfectly fine when running it from the console of the bounce-server.

Has anyone tried to do this before (bounce off another machine: run
vncterm with a ssh connected vzctl enter command)? If anyone has any ideas
please ping me back.

Best regards
