Thank you, guys, for your quick answers. It seems to be really easy, but
anyhow it doesn't work for me as it should:
Here once more in detail my scenario:
My proxmox host server is limpopo. The guest host is polokwane.
I create a new NIC interface in the web gui according to your
description. That creates an entry in the following file on limpopo
(last line in the file):
limpopo:/etc/qemu-server# cat 137.conf
name: polokwane
ide2: local:iso/ubuntu-10.04.1-server-amd64.iso,media=cdrom
vlan0: virtio=32:5E:AB:B7:2C:0C
bootdisk: virtio0
virtio0: local:137/vm-137-disk-1.raw
ostype: l26
memory: 2048
onboot: 1
sockets: 1
vlan1: virtio=8E:37:A6:7E:65:D9
Then I restart the guest and would expect that a second NIC device
(eth1) shines up here:
root at polokwane:~# ifconfig
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet Hardware Adresse 32:5e:ab:b7:2c:0c
inet Adresse:192.168.100.154 Bcast:192.168.100.255
Maske:255.255.255.0
inet6-Adresse: fe80::305e:abff:feb7:2c0c/64
Gültigkeitsbereich:Verbindung
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metrik:1
RX packets:81 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:47 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
Kollisionen:0 Sendewarteschlangenlänge:1000
RX bytes:10979 (10.9 KB) TX bytes:6549 (6.5 KB)
lo Link encap:Lokale Schleife
inet Adresse:127.0.0.1 Maske:255.0.0.0
inet6-Adresse: ::1/128 Gültigkeitsbereich:Maschine
UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metrik:1
RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
Kollisionen:0 Sendewarteschlangenlänge:0
RX bytes:0 (0.0 B) TX bytes:0 (0.0 B)
But it doesn't. No second NIC. What's going wrong here? Or what's my
error in reasoning?
Thanks for help.
