I don't see your problem. Proxmox does pretty much the same thing. The 
release number is increased.

If you inrease new digits after a trailing dot (like ubuntu 10.04.1 to 
10.04.2 or increase a number after a "-" does not make a big difference.

And to stick to the ubuntu comparision: If you install from either CD
and do "aptitude update && aptitude upgrade" afterwards, you will get 
the same results.
