Hi,

the current migration copies the data and this take time - depending on the size of the disks. The new storage model (first introduced to public in 1.4 beta next week ) supports shared storage (e.g. nfs, iscsi). Therefore the live migration does not need to copy the disk images and the migration time just depends on the used ram and the load - under normal conditions the whole process take a few seconds but with just a few milliseconds freeze.

So if you need fast live migration, you need shared storage (or share local resources).
