if the problem is fixed in qemu version (and not machineconfig),

maybe it's possible to send qemu-version from source vm (2.2) to target vm(2.4),
then in this case, keep pxe rom on target vm. (with virtio-net-pci.romfile=pxe-virtio.rom)


>From qemu 2.4-> futur higher version, it's should works out of the box. (pxe->efi, or efi-> bigger efi rom, ..)

Yes, that sounds reasonable. But it does not help to solve our problem?
