Don't have followed all the discussion, but, is it only nested virtualization which don't work on opteron ?
I can upgrade qemu to 2.4 on one of my opteron temporary to test, if necessary.

Maybe Proxmox should build a small Opteron cluster for testing 
purposes? :-)
