I'll redo test with my nexenta plugin which also use -f iscsi -O iscsi to be sure.

I think something have change in last qemu.

The target exists. Only thing missing was the lun ;-) 

using this works: 
/usr/bin/qemu-img convert -t writeback -p -C -f raw -O raw 
iscsi://192.168.2.80/iqn.2010-09.org.openindiana:omnios:share/0 
iscsi://192.168.2.80/iqn.2010-09.org.openindiana:omnios:share/1 

-f iscsi -O iscsi also seems wrong to me.
