for sheepdog, see my question in the sheep mailing

"
I create a base vdi : image1
create a snapshot: snap1
create a snapshot: snap2

now I boot on snap1
qemu sheepdog:image1:snap1

I write datas and make a mistake.
how can I rollback at snap1 point of time before the mistake ?
"

I don't see how it's possible without a rollback command if the only way is to pass the snaptag at vm boot

Ins't loosing data the expected behavior (you want to rollback)?

You do not want to touch the snapshot (should be read-only), but you
wand to overwrite current image with snapshot data.
