Maybe we can add the device, and for the moment just add a new field (maybe currentmemory, like libvirt), and add in pve-manager for manual ballooning. ?

I'm currently checking how it's work on last xenserver 5.6 (they have auto balloning), and vmware esx.
I don't know if other kvm systems already have add it .

Auto ballonning seem to be a little more complex. (Because of ksm).
Mom is not production ready yet, and need new qemu 0.16 to use new qemu guest agent

Btw, another request for memory ballooning in the forum:

http://forum.proxmox.com/threads/4003-Memory-Ballooning

I start to believe that we should add the ballooning device by default to have memory hotplug.
