Whilst not completely relevant, thought I'd chime in with my experience. <BR>

Not sure if this applies to Server 2008, but I noticed a huge benefit from using virtio drivers for virtualised HDD (over raw IDE) on 2003 server. The disk IO is 'real world' noticeably better using virtio drivers. Obviously YMMV with 2008 but I'd imagine many of the same factor would be at play.<BR>
