spent $$ from their IT budgets on VMware and Hyper-V licenses,
and to be told they could've had all that live-migration,
clustering, and central web-based management for free, will
cause their managers an uproar!

I just posted another rebuttal using some of your thoughts
below, we'll see how it goes.

The reason I wanted to jump in the fight today, because there is
not a day go by that IT professionals ask the question "What do
you guys suggest for virtualization servers?", and the VMware
vendors push their products.

It's about time the fight started...
However, you're preaching to the choir, we all here KNOW
this great product is free, and we have donated $$ to help
further the development.
I think many of those guys on Spiceworks are heavily
invested in VMware and Hyper-V. When we mention Proxmox,
they can't wrap their heads around the fact that such a
product can be free, so they do their best to twist every
bit of logical reasoning they can.
If someone could just add one single statement on the
subscription page, this will all go away, and you will see
a spike in the downloading of Proxmox VE and possibly the
Mail gateway.
