Hi everyone

properly connecting external usb hdd usually block VM (w2003) at all
Once (first time) it boots normaly and VM recognizes it properly but
the communication between HD and VM is cca 80-100 times slower than
connecting it natively to the physical machine.
the second boot does not success and VM blocks during early boot
process

as soon as I unplug the VM it proceeds with the boot and everything
works in the real time

VMID.conf ->
hostusb: 152d:2329 (after lsusb)

What do I do possibly wrong ? ... or the whole system has not still
been optimized for usb hdd communication with VMs

w2008 still cannot install -> there's been workaround suggested
but I would wait for the update that solves it (hopefully it will be
soon :-)

by the way I use two frontend machines (i3, 8GB RAM) and (Q8400, 8GB
RAM) in cluster and one back-end one that server as remote storage
(AMD64, 6GB RAM, FreeNas)
DRBD between two front ends works pretty correct and I use it for
shared VM images repository
FreeNas iscsi works also pretty fine and I use it for iscsi logical
volumes for VMs on the front ends
Live migrations works fine too

The only thing I noticed is : When the VM images are placed om the
drbd shared storage VM do not boot at start-up ?!

Does anybody have such (any) drbd expirience ?

thank you very much in advance and
Hello Martin
I'm very interested in proxmox progess and would like to do testing the
new kernels
but so far I got "only" to :
pve-manager: 1.7-10 (pve-manager/1.7/5323)
running kernel: 2.6.35-1-pve
proxmox-ve-2.6.35: 1.6-7
pve-kernel-2.6.32-4-pve: 2.6.32-28
pve-kernel-2.6.35-1-pve: 2.6.35-7
qemu-server: 1.1-25
pve-firmware: 1.0-9
libpve-storage-perl: 1.0-16
vncterm: 0.9-2
vzctl: 3.0.24-1pve4
vzdump: 1.2-9
vzprocps: 2.0.11-1dso2
vzquota: 3.0.11-1
pve-qemu-kvm: 0.13.0-2
ksm-control-daemon: 1.0-4
how can i upgrade to 2.6.35-9 ?
by the way i have big problems with passing external usb drives to VMs
and noy i can see them in VMs but it is working extremly slow...
When I want to transfer 4GB file from usb to VM it says it needs 146
minutes ...
For me it is very important to work with USB ext drives in the real time
and I'm wondering what I may be doing wrong
now I have to plug external usb drive to the physical machine and access
it through share
Hopefully your new kernels fix that :-)
thank you very much in advance

Hi Everyone,
I am opening the VNC console from Proxmox GUI using Chrome and each time I
type a command I can't see it because the window has a scroll to it and I
have to roll it down and with next command the same thing happens. Window
also doesn't maximize.
Is this something everyone experiences or is it just Chrome behaving like
this. I would like like to see a full size window if possible.
Regards,

Hi to all,
I have upgrade to proxmox VE 1.7, and when I create a full virtualized
guest linux (debian 5.0.5 lenny) whit a buisness card iso installer
kernel version 2.6.26-2-486 always randomly freez the guest.
If kvm support is disable the VM is not freez, but losing in
performance, a unreasonable use of virtual ram, cpu and the services is
run on the
guest is unusable.
My pveversion -v
